McCaffrey returned to school accompanied by his expectant spouse. Olivia Culpo for the event as he looked back on a journey that made him one of the top running backs in the NFL.

Ed and Lisa, his parents, were present at the ceremony celebrating their son.

Pondering over the occasion, the 28-year-old McCaffrey posted on Instagram on Sunday: "It was an emotionally significant privilege for me yesterday."

This shirt embodies everyone who helped shape me into the person I am now. I take you along with me wherever I go.

However, it was Culpo who appeared particularly touched by the day. Posting her own photos from the occasion, she penned about her spouse: "Yesterday was emotionally uplifting in the best possible manner."

Seeing Christian's high school jersey being retired was an incredibly moving, complete circle moment — it brought back memories of all the determination, sacrifices, and self-control he has invested in this sport since day one.

I've witnessed you dedicate every bit of yourself to your work—not seeking praise, but because quality matters deeply to you.

'The most dedicated person I know isn’t just defined by their performance on the pitch; they're also an unselfish team player and someone always striving for improvement.'

I adore you immensely and I can't feel more proud, and I'm deeply grateful to witness you being honoured in a manner that truly represents all the compassion and honesty you possess.

'To celebrating our history and all that lies in the future!!'

Meanwhile, Valor posted on social media regarding McCaffrey: "Christian McCaffrey from the Class of 2014, who was part of the Valor alumni, came back to campus for a ceremony honoring him and retiring his Valor football jersey."

It was an enjoyable communal festivity for his relatives, former football players, present scholars, and staff!

'Christian assisted Valor in securing 4 football state titles. Additionally, he participated in basketball and track during his high school days.'

'After his college years at Stanford, Christian was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the first round, and five years later he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he continues today.'

For McCaffrey, this honour arrives as he gears up for a return season with his 49ers squad.

Following an impressive 2023 season where McCaffrey and the Niners made it to the Super Bowl but ultimately lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, McCaffrey faced numerous injury problems in 2024.

Following his absence at the beginning of the season due to Achilles tendinitis, McCaffrey injured his posterior cruciate ligament during a snowy match against the Buffalo Bills in early December.

Before being injured during the game in Buffalo, he participated in four matches with the Niners and did not come back for the rest of the season as his squad missed out on making the playoffs.
