Beyond a Gym: A Community Unites!

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Gold Bar Training Center In Rapid City, the doors swung wide open in September of last year.

"We provide instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, no-gi grappling, and kickboxing for both children and adults," stated Jonny Knutson, who co-owns and teaches at the Gold Bar Training Center.

"We've also delved into mixed martial arts and assisted several fighters with their preparation for bouts. These various disciplines tend to merge, but our main emphasis remains on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu along with the kickboxing component," stated Coy Sasse, who is one of the owners at Gold Bar Training Center.

Knutson explained for those unfamiliar with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, "It’s primarily a grappling martial art, similar to wrestling but includes submission techniques."

Everyone is invited to participate, beginning at age 4.

"It creates a welcoming atmosphere for all ages. We host several families where both adults and kids participate in training, and we've made significant efforts to build a strong community," Knutson stated.
