Northern Ireland Law Firm Set to Merge with U.S. Giant, Forging a Global Legal Powerhouse

Herbert Smith Freehills An international law firm with significant operations in Belfast and Kramer Levin are poised to merge following overwhelming partnership approval for the combination.

The combined company will be called Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer.

The worldwide enterprise is projected to generate revenues of $2 billion, with over 2,700 legal professionals, comprising approximately 630 partners, operating from 25 locations globally.

Rebecca Maslen-Stannage, who chairs and serves as the senior partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, stated: "This merger represents a significant and enduring pledge from both companies to forge ahead into the future as a single integrated firm, marking only the start of this journey."

The global CEO of Herbert Smith Freehills, Justin D'Agostino, described it as "a significant landmark".

Paul H. Schoeman and Howard T. Spilko, who are co-managing partners at Kramer Levin, stated: "Teaming up with HSF presents a distinctive chance that allows us to realise our collective ambitions and potential for tactical expansion within the US market."

This represents a major accomplishment for our merged company.

The merger is anticipated to be completed by 1 June 2025.
