Narcos: Mexico Actor Battles for Life After Bacterial Infection Puts Him in Coma

Manuel Masalva, an actor from 'Narcos: Mexico,' has fallen into a medically induced coma following a ‘highly virulent’ bacterial infection he contracted during his time off.

"My brother is battling for his life far away from our home," actor friend Mario Morán stated in a TikTok posted on Wednesday.

"As of now, his condition still remains critical," Morán stated additionally.

Morán also shared that a GoFundMe was set up to help cover the actor’s medical expenses.

"The healthcare expenses are staggering, and in a nation where everything is more challenging, even the smallest assistance can be pivotal during these extremely tough times," he stated in the video snippet.

The representative of the actor did not promptly reply to Page Six’s inquiry for comments.

The GoFundMe page established for Masalva posted an update on Thursday stating that he "is still in critical condition," however, the "bacteria" has now been "identified."

"He is taking antibiotics, and we are awaiting his improvement," the post, written in Spanish, states.

The people behind the initiative also expressed their gratitude to those who contributed funds for their cause. As of the latest update, the campaign had exceeded its target of 1 million Mexican Pesos, equivalent to approximately $49,000 USD.

Masalva is most recognized for portraying Ramón Arellano Félix in Netflix’s “Narcos: Mexico.”

He co-starred with Michael Peña, Scoot McNairy, and Diego Luna in the spin-off series, which had a run of three seasons prior to this. ended in 2021 .
