Fire and Emergency notes that the smoke visible in certain areas of Christchurch is coming from a substantial planned burn close to the Bottle Lake Forest Park.
Plumes of smoke are visible throughout the eastern and northern sections of the city.
Firefighters are on site, stating that the controlled burning is under control.
Fire and Emergency advised individuals to identify the origin of smoke or fire prior to dialing 111 to ensure that response teams weren’t dispatched without cause.
